Time For A Catch Up!

January flew by, and before we jump fully into what’s coming next, we wanted to take a moment to pause and reflect on everything we’ve already shared at the S4G Club.

It’s been months of creativity, conversation, laughter, and growth, and we’re so proud of the girls for the energy they bring into the space each week.

Here’s a little catch-up on what we’ve been up to so far.

🎲 Creativity, Play & Problem Solving

We have been tapping into the girls’ imagination and teamwork skills. They created their own board games, learning how to plan, collaborate, and think creatively, and we also took on a build-a-bridge challenge, encouraging problem-solving, resilience, and communication.

There was plenty of fun too, with our club assistant introducing the fun game of Splat, we've had all things friendship talk and bracelet making, and painting resilience rocks, a lovely reminder that strength can be colourful, personal, and something we carry with us.

Positivity, Gratitude & Big Conversations

We also spent time creating positivity and gratitude jars for the new year, a gentle way for the girls to reflect, notice the good, and practise self-kindness.

We also held an important session around the recent talks of a social media ban, giving the girls space to talk, ask questions, and share their thoughts in a safe, supportive environment. The girls did a spot of role play too, which they all embraced and loved.

These conversations are so important, and the girls approached them with honesty and maturity.

Ending the Year with Fun

Before the Christmas break, we finished the year with a fun games day and just enjoyed being in each other’s company. Sometimes, having fun and connection are the most important lessons of all.

Celebrating Our Amazing Team

We’ve been incredibly lucky to have such a good team who have all led one of the sessions with the girls:

  • Nancy led an affirmation session that the girls really connected with

  • Tenika brought energy and confidence through a dance and movement session

  • Shimron guided the girls through a calming and creative origami session

We also want to give a special shout-out to Tenika, who has now finished her volunteer role with us as she begins her massage therapy course.

We’re so proud of her and grateful for everything she brought to the club! AND for travelling all the way from Leicester every Saturday to be with us, that's what you call dedication. The girls really took to her, and our door is always open for when she wants to come back.

Looking Ahead

We’re currently planning a special bespoke parent and daughter session in celebration of Mother’s Day, a chance to connect, reflect, and spend meaningful time together. More details coming soon.

Exciting News: Fearless & Fit

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve received funding from Sport England to run our Fearless & Fit project. We plan to start some sessions in April and will focus on building confidence through strength, movement, fitness and self-defence too! We can’t wait to share more very soon.

A Thank You

Thank you to all the parents, carers and supporters who make the club what it is. And to the girls, of course, thank you for showing up as yourselves, every single week.
