Children's Mental Health Week 2026

Children’s Mental Health Week is a little reminder that our children’s emotional well-being matters just as much as their physical health.

For girls especially, navigating friendships, school pressures, growing emotions, and the world around them can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Creating safe spaces where girls feel heard, valued and supported plays a huge role in helping them grow with confidence, and that’s something we’re deeply passionate about at the S4G Club.

So what's the theme for this year?

This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week focuses on the theme “This is my place”, highlighting just how important it is for children and young people to feel a sense of belonging.

Whether it’s within friendships, at school, at home, or in the community, feeling accepted and safe plays a vital role in mental health and well-being. When girls feel they truly belong, they can show up as themselves without judgment. It builds confidence, self-worth and emotional resilience.

At Serenity For Girls, creating that safe, nurturing environment is at the heart of everything we do. Our club is a place where girls are encouraged to be who they are, feel supported, and know they belong exactly as they are.

What does good mental health look like for girls?

Good mental health doesn’t mean being happy all the time. It means feeling safe to talk about emotions, knowing how to calm your body when feelings feel big, and having trusted people around you.

For girls, this can look like:

  • being able to name their feelings

  • feeling confident to speak up

  • knowing it’s okay to have off days

  • learning healthy ways to cope with stress

These are skills, and they can be learned and practised.

How can we parents support mental well-being at home

You don’t need to have all the answers. Often, it’s the small, consistent moments that make the biggest difference.

Some ways to support your daughter:

  • Ask open questions like “How did today feel?”

  • Praise effort, not perfection

  • Remind her she is loved just as she is

How we support mental well-being at the S4G Club

At the club, emotional well-being is woven into every session. We support girls through:

  • creative activities

  • movement and play

  • group discussions

  • confidence-building games

  • quiet time

All designed to help girls feel safe, connected and empowered.

As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, we’ll also be running a dedicated session at the club, giving the girls space to talk about feelings, explore what belonging means to them, and learn gentle coping tools they can use in everyday life.

A final thought

When girls feel they belong at home, at school, and in their communities, they feel safe enough to grow.

A special invitation

If you’d love your daughter to be part of a space where she feels supported, encouraged and celebrated, we’d love to welcome her to the S4G Club.
