Six Weeks of The S4G Club — Our Journey So Far

Since kicking off in September, our sessions have been filled with creativity, laughter, learning, and friends.

Here is a rundown of what we've done so far!

Belonging & Bonding

We began our journey by exploring what it means to belong. Through team activities and honest conversations, the girls got to know one another, discovering shared experiences and unique strengths. It set the tone for everything that’s followed — a safe, welcoming space where every girl feels seen and valued.

My Dream Bag – Designer Challenge

Next came creativity and self-expression! Each girl designed her own “Dream Bag” — a reflection of her identity, values, and dreams for the future. The designs were beautiful, but even more inspiring were the stories behind them.

Self-Care & The Power of Taking Care of You

We talked about what self-care really means — not just pampering, but kindness, boundaries, and knowing your worth. The girls each created their own Self-Care Boxes, filled with reminders and tools to look after their wellbeing.

Leadership & Campaigns

Confidence took centre stage as the girls became leaders in their own right. They developed campaigns and speeches on causes they care about, learning how to use their voices to inspire positive change.

Black History Month: Celebrating Black Hair

October brought the joy of celebrating Black History Month — and what better way than through the beauty and power of Black hair? We shared stories, styles, and pride, recognising that our hair tells a story of heritage, strength, and creativity.

Storytelling with a Twist — Diwali & Halloween

We wrapped up October with creativity and imagination! The girls explored storytelling through Diwali and Halloween-inspired tales, blending cultures, traditions, and spooky fun into their own original stories.

What Parents Are Saying

We’ve been so touched by the feedback from parents:

“I’m so glad this is here.” “She had a blast" " She had another fun session today she couldnt wait to show me the box she had put together"

Hearing that the girls feel excited, inspired, and supported each week means everything.

A big thank you to our amazing team — Nancy (Club Assistant), Tenika (Volunteer), and Shimron (Videographer) — for their time, energy, and heart in making each session special.

Making connections with Schools!

We’ve also been connecting beyond the club! I was recently invited to All Saints C of E Primary School and Eaton Valley School, and will be joining a Coffee Morning at Holy C of E Primary School in December. So, a big thank you to the schools that allowed me into their spaces as well.

And this is just the beginning — with sports projects, jewellery making, and lots more fun and learning ahead, the club is only getting stronger.

Exciting News!

We’re so proud to share that we’ve recently received a small amount of funding from Big Brum to help us grow!

This means we’ll be able to run a pop-up pilot project in another area of Birmingham, giving even more girls the chance to experience Serenity for Girls Club, so stay tuned.

It’s a small step, but a really special one. Little by little, we’re expanding and reaching more girls who can benefit from a safe, creative, and empowering space.

Closing Thought

The past six weeks have shown what happens when girls come together in a safe space built on positivity, creativity and empowerment. We’ve learned, created, laughed, and grown, and we can’t wait for all that’s to come.

You can book your child a FREE taster session HERE and let her join in with the creativity and fun every Saturday at the YMCA Club in West Bromwich.
